In addition to all the food and aluma-fun, we’ve booked a diverse musical program for Alumaflamingo—something for (almost) everyone!
Swing on Saturday night to the hot sax and cool sounds of Mike MacArthur and his Friends.
Frontman and tenor saxophonist MacArthur “surrounds himself with some of the very best players on the circuit…and mixes the repertoire between tried and tested jazz standards and quality originals.” (www.soulandjazzandfunk.com)
Visit his site to preview his just-released CD, “Feels Like Home”.
Also on tap at Alumaflamingo is a bluegrass act (which is, surprisingly, not so different from jazz: both forms employ improvisation, and soloists take their turn in the spotlight). The Alabama Bluegrass Express features the vocal harmonies of Bill and Betty Lancaster of Huntsville, Alabama. Audiences enjoy their style of bluegrass, traditional, and folk music wherever they perform (including numerous Airstream events).
Bring your acoustic instrument to Sarasota! Bill and Betty will host a fun Open Jam Session that all beginning to advanced level musicians will want to take part in.
